Rare mode
<operating system> Unix CBREAK mode (character-by-character with keyboard interrupts enabled).
Distinguished from raw mode and cooked mode; the phrase "a sort of half-cooked (rare?) mode" is used in the V7/BSD manuals to describe the mode.
