Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare
Act 3 - Scene 4
Athens. A room in MARK ANTONY’s house.
Octavia : O my good lord,
[p]Believe not all; or, if you must
believe,
[p]Stomach not all. A more unhappy lady,
[p]If this division
chance, ne'er stood between,
[p]Praying for both parts:
[p]The good
gods me presently,
[p]When I shall pray, 'O bless my lord and
husband!'
[p]Undo that prayer, by crying out as loud,
[p]'O, bless my
brother!' Husband win, win brother,
[p]Prays, and destroys the prayer;
no midway
[p]'Twixt these extremes at all.
Octavia : Thanks to my lord.
[p]The Jove of power make me most weak, most
weak,
[p]Your reconciler! Wars 'twixt you twain would be
[p]As if the
world should cleave, and that slain men
[p]Should solder up the rift.
