Cymbeline by William Shakespeare
Act 5 - Scene 2
Field of battle between the British and Roman camps.
Iachimo : The heaviness and guilt within my bosom
[p]Takes off my manhood: I
have belied a lady,
[p]The princess of this country, and the air
on't
[p]Revengingly enfeebles me; or could this carl,
[p]A very drudge
of nature's, have subdued me
[p]In my profession? Knighthoods and
honours, borne
[p]As I wear mine, are titles but of scorn.
[p]If that
thy gentry, Britain, go before
[p]This lout as he exceeds our lords,
the odds
[p]Is that we scarce are men and you are
gods.
[p][Exit]
[p][The battle continues; the Britons fly; CYMBELINE
is]
[p]taken: then enter, to his rescue, BELARIUS,
[p]GUIDERIUS, and
ARVIRAGUS]
Belarius : Stand, stand! We have the advantage of the ground;
[p]The lane is
guarded: nothing routs us but
[p]The villany of our fears.
Guiderius : [with Arviragus] Stand, stand, and fight!
[p][Re-enter POSTHUMUS
LEONATUS, and seconds the]
[p]Britons: they rescue CYMBELINE, and
exeunt. Then
[p]re-enter LUCIUS, and IACHIMO, with IMOGEN]
Caius Lucius : Away, boy, from the troops, and save thyself;
[p]For friends kill
friends, and the disorder's such
[p]As war were hoodwink'd.
Iachimo : 'Tis their fresh supplies.
Caius Lucius : It is a day turn'd strangely: or betimes
[p]Let's reinforce, or fly.
