Henry IV, Part II by William Shakespeare
Act 4 - Scene 2
Another part of the forest
Lord Mowbray : If not, we ready are to try our fortunes
[p]To the last man.
Lord Hastings : And though we here fall down,
[p]We have supplies to second our
attempt.
[p]If they miscarry, theirs shall second them;
[p]And so
success of mischief shall be born,
[p]And heir from heir shall hold
this quarrel up
[p]Whiles England shall have generation.
Lord Hastings : Go, Captain, and deliver to the army
[p]This news of peace. Let them
have pay, and part.
[p]I know it will please them. Hie thee, Captain.
Lord Mowbray : You wish me health in very happy season,
[p]For I am on the sudden
something ill.
Lord Mowbray : So much the worse, if your own rule be true.
Lord Mowbray : This had been cheerful after victory.
Lord Hastings : My lord, our army is dispers'd already.
[p]Like youthful steers
unyok'd, they take their courses
[p]East, west, north, south; or like
a school broke up,
[p]Each hurries toward his home and
sporting-place.
Lord Mowbray : Is this proceeding just and honourable?
