Fresh apple cake w/sauce
Yield: 8 Servings
Ingredients:
- 3 c Apples peeled and chopped
- 2 c Sugar
- 1 c Butter or oil
- 3 Eggs
- 2 c Self-rising flour
- 1 ts Cinnamon
- 1/2 ts Nutmeg
- 1 c Nuts (optional)
- 1 c Raisins (optional)
- 1 ts Vanilla
Instructions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease "2" 8 or 9 inch cake pans. Or Grease 1 large pan... Place chopped apples in a bowl; add sugar and mix let stand 10 minutes. Add melted butter and eggs beat with a wooden spoon. Sift dry ingredients together and add to cake mixture. Stir in nuts raisins and vanilla. Pour into prepared pans. Bake for 55 minutes. Serve with sauce. Sauce: 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup butter : 1/2 cup evaporated milk 1 tsp. vanilla Bring first 3 ingredients to boil stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add vanilla.
