Fresh apple cake w/sauce

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease "2" 8 or 9 inch cake pans. Or Grease 1 large pan... Place chopped apples in a bowl; add sugar and mix let stand 10 minutes. Add melted butter and eggs beat with a wooden spoon. Sift dry ingredients together and add to cake mixture. Stir in nuts raisins and vanilla. Pour into prepared pans. Bake for 55 minutes. Serve with sauce. Sauce: 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup butter : 1/2 cup evaporated milk 1 tsp. vanilla Bring first 3 ingredients to boil stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add vanilla. I have a favorite apple cake recipe...It is taken from the "The Nashville Cookbook" published in 1977...The recipe was from Eva Redmon and was distributed at a homecoming in East Tennessee.... I usually double the recipe and make extra because the cake disappears like magic in a day!!! (with or without company!) I usually make it without raisins or nuts. Enjoy Ann
