Dual-homed

<networking> A kind of connection to a FDDI network where a host is simultaneously connected to two separate devices in the same FDDI ring.

One of the connections becomes active while the other one is automatically blocked.

If the first connection fails, the backup link takes over with no perceptible delay.

A dual-homed device can tolerate a fault in one of its "homes" whereas a dual-attached device can tolerate a fault in one of the rings.
